The Elmhurst Artists’ Guild (EAG) is sponsoring a juried art exhibition: Honoring Hokusai in our gallery located in the Elmhurst Art Museum. This call for art is inspired by the Cleve Carney Museum of Art at the College of DuPage 2025 Summer exhibition: HOKUSAI & UKIYO-E | The Floating World.
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:
2-D and 3-D work considered in any media
Work accepted into this show will be curated by the Honoring Hokusai exhibition committee members.
Artists need to submit an artist’s statement about their work and how it relates to the work of Hokusai (theme, technique, etc.).
Work must be current and have been created in the last 3 years
Size restrictions: Less than 48" wide (or depth for 3D work), height is restricted to 10 feet (or adequate visibility within the ceiling space)
Fee: A non-refundable fee of $35: fee will be collected through the EAG website. Up to 3 entries may be reviewed for acceptance. Payment is not a guarantee of acceptance. All work will be reviewed by the curatorial committee.
Accepted work must be hand delivered and picked up during the times indicated. Late pick up of unsold work will result in a storage fee collected upon pick up.
EAG will not accept shipped pieces of work
Accepted works will be judged and prizes will be awarded at the reception. (The Judge will be announced closer to the exhibition date.) Notice of acceptance will be sent via email no later than June 1st.
RECEPTION:
An artist reception will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025, 6-9 pm and is free and open to the public.
Awards: 3 Honorable Mentions, 3 Awards of excellence, and Best of Show will be awarded by the juror at 8 pm at the reception.
Sales: Commissions from sales will benefit both the EAG (20%) and the EAM (20%), we strongly encourage artworks to be for sale, but will consider an NSF item. Please provide value for insurance. Sold works remain in the gallery for the duration of the show.
Promotion: Images of selected artworks may be chosen for promotional publicity, website, and social channels and/or for educational and archival purposes.
