Application to participate in the EAG special exhibit for summer 2025. 

Honoring Hokusai is presented by the Elmhurst Artists' Guild to complement the summer 2025 exhibition at the Cleve Carney Museum of Art: Hokusai & Ukiyo-e | The Floating World [Artworks from the Choissone Collection]. Local artists are invited to be inspired by Hokusai and Japanese art of the era in creating their own work to display in the guild gallery located within the Elmhurst Art Museum at 150 S. Cottage Hill Avenue, Elmhurst, IL 60126. 

Eligibility

Artists 18 years of age or older living/working in the Chicagoland area or driving distance to the gallery for delivery/pick-up. 

Terms and Conditions

Fee $35 (non-refundable).

Artists may submit up to three (3) pieces created within the last three (3) years and cannot have been entered into a previous EAG show. 

This is a curated show and payment is not a guarantee of acceptance.

• Artwork must be finished and ready for display: Framed properly and be neat in appearance; gallery-wrapped canvases without exposed staples and with finished edges are acceptable. The work must be wired using picture hanging wire with the center of the hanging wire at least 1½ inches below the top of the piece. Sawtooth hangers are not allowed on works larger than 12" wide and must be affixed to the frame (warning: poster style frames where the sawtoothed hanger is affixed to the backing will not be accepted). Painting and frame must be dry. Maximum overall width including frame is 48". 

• By entering this exhibition you agree to hold Elmhurst Artists’ Guild, its officers and directors harmless from any claims of copyright infringement caused by your artwork. 

• EAG covers loss or damage to exhibited artwork, subject to the limits set by EAG's property and casualty insurer. Artwork marked Not For Sale (NFS) must include a valuation for insurance purposes. 

• Work must be hand delivered to the gallery on the day of install. Shipped works are not accepted. You are responsible for making arrangements for unsold work to be picked if you are unable to do so. The Guild does not provide storage space. There is a $10 charge for late pick-ups. 

• Removal of artwork before the end of the show is prohibited. 

• A commission of 40% of the sales price will be deducted from all artwork sales. This commission is split equally between EAG and the Elmhurst Art Museum. Artwork sales are handled through the Museum Gift Shop. Illinois sales tax is collected. The artist will be paid within 60 days after the close of the show by the Guild. Entry Instructions

• Complete all required fields of the entry form and 'click' the submit button to add it to the cart. 

• The information request is in bold type. Use commas as indicated in the prompts to reflect your answers. All 2nd or 3rd entries are considered to be optional and completion is not required to submit the form and may be left blank. A statement for each entry is required for consideration. 

• Locate the cart icon on the page, after you have submitted the completed form, it will have a '1' indicating you have one item in the cart. Click the cart to review your order. Complete the payment transaction using the available method of payment: eg. PayPal, Credit Card, ApplePay. 

• Images of your 2D/3D entry must be emailed to the gallery by the deadline for payment (gallery.exhibits@elmhurstartistsguild.org). Please type HOKUSAI2025 in the subject line.

• Be sure to provide high quality image jpgs as they may be used for publicity purposes upon acceptance with a resolution of 500ppi - 1200ppi using the following format to coincide with the information on your application form: capitalized first initial, full last name, Entry1 (eg: JSmithEntry1.jpg, JSmith_Entry2.jpg, JSmith_Entry3.jpg).

• If you are submitting more than one entry image, you must have included all information including your statement for each additional entry on the form. Failure to include matching information for the additional entries may result in those entries being ignored.
