2024 Past Events

Thursday May 16th, 2024 Member meeting

Congratulations to Alejandro Goetz from York High School and Hannah Miller from Timothy Christian High School for winning this year’s annual EAG Student Scholarship award. Each year, the Elmhurst Artists’ Guild raises money to award two (2) $500 Scholarships for Elmhurst high school students who excel in the visual fine arts. At the beginning of the academic year; York High School, IC Catholic Prep, and Timothy Christian are invited to nominate senior students for this award. The nominations are gathered, and the student portfolios are judged by members of the EAG on the basis of creativity and originality.

Both students are seniors in high school and will be furthering their art studies in college.

April 18th, 2024 Member meeting

EAG welcomes Melissa Rasor, an interdisciplinary artist and painter from Grayslake, Illinois. Using recycled magazine pages as her medium, she creates art while minimizing her environmental footprint. Her goal is to raise awareness about single-use waste and unsustainable resource consumption.

MArch 2st, 2024 Member meeting

Guest artist Donna Castellanos Chicago-born, Elmhurst-raised artist who attended the American Academy of Art in Chicago, earning a degree in graphic design and, after five years in advertising, realized her true passion was in art and traded in the keyboard for a paintbrush. EAG would like to thank Donna Castellanos for sharing her work and art journey with us. We created our own work with so many cut out illustrations to choose from her stash. What a fun night.

February 15th, 2024 Member meeting

Guest speaker Dorothy Bury Shaw a native Chicagoan and award winning mixed media artist and poet. DOrothy spoke about her evolution as an artist, shared some of her early works, followed with what she creates today.

January 18th, 2024 Member meeting

Guest speaker Ann Blaas is an abstract artist and educator, making paintings, drawings, Installations and murals.
